ADIDAS OPENS REGISTRATION FOR THE MOST PRESTIGIOUS RUNNING EVENT OF THE YEAR – THE ADIDAS KING OF THE ROAD
Crowned King and Queen of KOTR to represent the Philippines in the KOTR Southeast Asia Championship in Singapore

Now on its 14th year, adidas invites runners from all over to join this year’s adidas ‘King of the Road’ (KOTR) on September 30 at the Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

This year’s race will have three categories – 5K, 10K and 16.8K. For the 16.8K distance, there are two sub categories – the ‘Closed’ category for Filipino nationals and the ‘Open’ category for all nationalities. The top male and female winners from the 16.8km Closed category will be hailed as the Philippines’ ‘King and Queen’ of the Road and will qualify for an all-expense paid trip to Singapore on October 28 to compete in the adidas KOTR Southeast Asia Championship.

“The adidas King of the Road is a platform that allows runners to achieve their personal best. As a global leader, adidas continuously provides top of the line products, technology, and events that support runners to be the best they can be,” says Jason Gervasio, adidas Brand Communications and Sports Marketing Manager.

Demonstrating the brand’s exceptional commitment to the sport, the first adidas KOTR Southeast Asia Championship, held last year, unified runners from all around the region. The event had participants from the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia all competing in a bid to be crowned as the adidas SEA ‘King of the Road’. The Philippines was chosen as the first country to host the culminating activity of the Southeast Asian championship race in October 2011. Similar to last year’s KOTR, multi-color adidas singlets will display the vibrancy of running as a sport across the region.

Continuing the tradition of pushing people to achieve their personal breakthroughs, the global brand brings the KOTR SEA Championship Year 2 to Singapore. The race will begin and end in the lion city’s newest iconic landmark – the Gardens by the Bay. Around 12,000 runners are expected to participate as adidas aims to gather the best of the best from five countries to run by Singapore’s newest 100-hectare park.

    To join the race:
Register online for the adidas King of the Road 2012 from July 25 to September 15 (http://adidaskingoftheroad.com/ph) or
Visit any of the 5 KOTR registration sites from July 25 to September 23: adidas Megamall, adidas Rockwell, adidas SM Mall of Asia, adidas Trinoma, and adidas Greenbelt. Registration sites are open 7 days a week from 12NN to 8PM.

  • Goodbye 2011…Hello 2012

Another year is about to end…

Let me take you to a brief review of what transpired to the year 2011 which for me was a year of CHANGE and Blessings.

I feel that the year was not as active or busy as 2010 but scanning my Facebook, Twitter, and blog posts, it sure was a full year also.

First to my work/career.  Towards the end of January, an offer was given to me to move in Cebu for a month to help train and develop new hires in our facility there.  I do not have a choice that time but to accept the offer and hesitantly said yes.  So why was I hesitant?  Because first I was asked to fly on my birthday.  Luckily I was able to ask them to move it to a later date, which was the next day (LOL).  Second, I already signed up for Condura Marathon and I can’t miss that.  Third because it’s going to be my first time to be living away from my family and friends, and not to mention living literally ALONE.  Imagine living alone in a city I’ve never been to even once!  It has been a bit of a challenge for me but I guess my previous travel experiences have been of good use.  It only took me one weekend to get over being homesick and then I started loving the city and the people.  Thanks to my TG family (running group) and to my new friends in Cebu (you know who you are).

I left work last October and I’m enjoying every moment in my vacation.  After 9 years, I do deserve a break, right?  Let’s see where my career will lead me in the year 2012 but for sure it’s going to be something BIG.  I feel it.

My running life was as busy as my work last year.  I did my first ever Marathon in 2011 via The Bull Runner Dream Marathon (March) albeit the lack in training because of my sudden assignment in Cebu.  I was really nervous days before and even on the race day itself but it never occurred to me that I will not finish the race.  I know I can finish it.  Luckily I was able to, it was not the finish time I wanted but hey at least I finished.  In 2010 I only finished 12 races, in 2011 I doubled it! Yes 24 races in one year!

Having been assigned in Cebu and doing a Marathon took it’s toll on me.  I noticed that my speed declined further that I decided not to run for the last 3 months of the year and focused more on training and doing some personal runs.  I need to regain that certain level of fitness before going back to races.  I actually gained weight and it really was hard.  Hopefully 2012 will be a good running year for me again.

This is also the year when I first had an unknown problem with my right eye.  Unknown because doctors could not diagnose it properly and does not know what treatment must be made.  My initial diagnosis is macular degeneration.  I will have it checked again in 2012 and hopefully have it treated.

I also became more visible with blog cons or run launches where I was able to establish friendships and close ties with other bloggers.   This also opened an opportunity for me to endorse a specific sports and lifestyle brand between Q2 and Q3.  Thank you for that opportunity.

My blog also moved in to another host not because of hosting issues, in fact I was satisfied with the previous.  I just need a host that is easily accessible and easy to forward any payment and requests. :)

As they say only CHANGE is certain and with change came all blessings…

I would like to thank the following for all the blessings you shared with me: The Chummies (you know who you are, raise your hands), RunRio, Riovana, the different running groups, Reebok and Team Reebok Running, Skechers, Toby’s Sports, Adidas, Powerade, Nuffnang, WP Webhost, PixelManila.Net, Unilab, Nike, and Sony Philippines, Tuesday Group and UNGO runners. Also a big THANK YOU goes out to those who read my blog.  I didn’t realize that I’ll be having such a number of viewers for the year. :)   Of course to HIM the source of all blessings, THANK YOU.

    Goodbye!
    Hello 2012!

You might be looking for anything about love life…that is too personal to share. :P

As we say hello to 2012, I will leave you with a quote:  “The consequences of your life are sown in what you do and how you behave.”

My ONLY resolution:  “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.”

  • adidas KOTR Race Results and Discussion

    PLEASE SCROLL
    DOWN

    SCROLL DOWN
    FURTHER

    Where is it???

How many times have you been driven to a site where they promise to give you YOUR race results but end up like you came inside a hole and not getting anything?  Where you will be asked to CLICK HERE but all you get is a DEAD END?

Be not fooled by bogus sites.  Sites where only ‘hits’ matter (to earn).  Sites that copy contents from other blogs or websites.

OFFICIAL RACE RESULTS are released by the ORGANIZERS or OWNERS of the race.  Please be patient and they will notify you or via their websites if they have released the official copies.

‘Discussions’ were made to be a venue for runners to vent their concerns or experiences (good or bad) about the race but not a venue para magmurahan and magbastusan.  We still need to practice respect and understanding.  Moderators are there to ‘moderate’ and let every one know that foul words are not part of a healthy conversation.  Besides we are runners and there is this certain feeling of happiness every after a race or crossing the finish line.  So why use such harsh words?

My point is HUWAG MAGPALOKO and RESPECT EACH OTHER.

Hope you had fun running the adidas KOTR 2011 and see you on your next race.  And NO, I am not releasing any race results for KOTR.  Me together with other blogger friends are just driving a point.  :)

    Keep on running!

  • The 35th Milo Marathon (Manila Elims)

It was raining hard that Sunday morning.  As I sat beside my bed at 2AM,  the thought of just staying at home and sleep was lurking.  But my runner (and blogger) friends are running the marathon and some other categories and that they might need my support and cheer so decided to go out and help.
Minutes before the send off for the 42K, I was standing just next to the stage where Boy Ramos and Chinggay Andrada were hosting the event, felt how passionate these runners were since they were still there albeit the pouring rain.  Some would treat the rain and cold weather a treat when running but on second thought, running long distances while raining would cause chaffing and severe blisters.  But at that time, all of them are more than eager to run the marathon and I know some of them were first timers.
After sending off the 42K, we went to the support station at Buendia and we were drenched in rain as well; we were not able to get a ride because road closures for the event and so we opted to walk.
After the first station, me and two others went back to the finish line to cheer upcoming finishers and congratulate them after crossing the finish line, while the others were stationed at Manila Doctors to give the final push for the last 2K of the route.
Though I wasn’t able to run Milo this year, cheering the runner, giving them support, and see them smile and say thank you were fulfilling enough.  But doing a Milo Marathon is still a dream that needs to be achieved.  36th Milo Marathon, why not!?
    Congratulations runners!

I was not feeling well today so I just did the “documentation” tasks for the event.  Here are some of the shots I’ve taken from the event:

Congratulations to all winners and to all runners who participated the event!

    Keep on running!

  • A Night with the Tuesday Group

Finally after being too busy at work and being assigned in the afternoon shift, I was able to meet the Tuesday group courtesy of Mr. Katol himself.  Was also able to run and eat dinner with the group.  They were a wacky crowd of runners (well most running groups are hehehe).  But given the different dialect, which I only understand so little, I still got to enjoy their company and made me feel at home here in Cebu.  It still feels like being with your running friends back in Manila.  It was also my first time to run on an oval track and it felt great.  It was effortless, almost like gliding.

We ate Japanese food after running and I was surprised with how cheap the food were not to mention they taste good too.  I wanna go back there and enjoy another set of meal this weekend.  I just hope I can still find it.

To cap the night, Syd and Hazel invited me to Coffee Cat and we had yogurt.  Yum!

Too bad I’m only staying here for a month, so I’m going to say goodbye to them soon.  :( Nevertheless, Cebu is just a plane away and I can always go back and meet them again. :)
