“Avon, the company for women and foremost advocate of breast cancer, once again leads the charge and marks the 20th year of its Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) campaign with this year’s breast cancer awareness events. Themed Let’s Walk the Talk, KGBC’s 2012 series takes Avon’s call to action a step further by inviting Filipinos to come face to face with the life-threatening condition and proactively and concretely deepen their involvement in the cause.
Launched in the Philippines in 2002, KGBC aims to help provide access to care and support to medically under-served Filipinas. With yearly walk and run events and fundraising products in the country, the company for women has been able to help establish the Breast Cancer Center at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) and offer free consultation, initiate support groups for sufferers, and provide much-needed equipment to provincial hospitals. To date, Avon has raised US$740 million worldwide for research and advancing access to breast cancer care.
Now on its 20th anniversary, the campaign focuses on providing an experiential glimpse into the realities of breast cancer via a 20-day nationwide KGBC Let’s Walk the Talk Tour. Highlighting the importance of early detection and the merits of regular breast examination, the tour features educational sessions on how to do a self-breast exam – Avon even had ‘breast vests’ produced to help participants understand and feel what actual lumps feel like – and free breast examinations by attending physicians. The tour also offers opportunities to get to know the disease more through the poignant stories and experiences of survivors.
Avon KGBC’s Let’s Walk the Talk Tour will be at AVON Las Piñas from August 20 to 22; AVON Taft from August 27 to 29; AVON Shaw from September 3 to 5; AVON Edsa from September 10 to 12; and off-site locations SM Cebu from September 27 to 30; and SM Davao from October 25 to 28.”

For the Walk event, purchase the 2012 KGBC shirt for only Php220 from an Avon representative starting September 1. For every shirt, Php20 will be donated to the PGH Breast Care Center and selected provincial hospitals.
